Receiving this scholarship will allow me to reach my goal of earning a bachelor’s degree. It will allow me to concentrate on my studies and lessen the financial burden of attending a university on a single income.
I was working as a supervisor of mammography for several radiologist-owned outpatient imaging centers. The offices were recently acquired by the local hospital in our city. Since that happened, I found myself learning an entirely new way of supervising. The hospital feels leadership is an important part of being in charge of a team of employees. Because of the things I have been shown, my desire to continue my education and earn my bachelor’s degree has been reawakened.
My plans include putting my leadership skills to good use with the employees I manage. I will also see what opportunities are available to me in our health system. I hope to be a positive influence on my staff and those in our imaging department who are thinking of pursuing their education further.
My "ah-ha" moment came a couple of times during my career. The first was when I decided I needed to find a career to financially support myself. While looking through the college catalog, I found radiologic technology. I thought this was the perfect choice for me; my degree was one of the best investments I have ever made. The second moment was after our imaging centers were purchased by the hospital and I found myself learning about leadership. It breathed new life into me. I realized that the best thing I could do was earn my bachelor's degree.
Words cannot express how much it means to me to receive the needed help with financing my education. I would let them know that their donation will be a great investment not only in me, but in my team of employees as well.
